BNG Native Plants & Seeds

UK-native wildflower seed, plug plants, bulbs, pond plants, native shrubs (including peatland specialists) and native trees — sourced in bulk from trusted ethical suppliers such as the Woodland Trust, Forestry Commission nurseries and accredited native-seed producers. Every species on the list is UK-native, grown without neonicotinoids, and supplied with provenance documentation. No ornamental cultivars, no non-natives.

Transparent pricing: our retail price is a flat 50% mark-up on the bulk NGO / trusted-supplier price. The mark-up covers species verification, provenance checks, packing, carriage and customer support — nothing more. Sphagnum moss for peatland restoration sits on our dedicated peatland page at a 75% mark-up that reflects the specialist handling it needs.

UK-native · provenance-checked · neonic-free

Choose an option below. All prices are per unit and include UK mainland carriage; bulk-site orders (over 1 ha / 500 m of hedgerow / 1,000 whips) are quoted directly. Delivery windows follow the planting season: trees and shrubs Nov–Mar (bare-root) or year-round (cell-grown); wildflower plugs Mar–Oct; seed year-round; bulbs Sept–Nov.

Why a 50% mark-up, and who we buy from

We buy in bulk from trusted, ethical UK suppliers — the kind of organisations that already check provenance, seed origin and species purity as part of their mission:

  • Woodland Trust and Forestry Commission nurseries for native tree whips and woodland shrubs — UK provenance, Plant Healthy certified.
  • Flora locale-aligned native-seed producers for wildflower seed mixes — grown from UK wild-origin stock, with provenance recorded at 10 km / NCA scale.
  • Accredited native-bulb growers for English bluebell (Hyacinthoides non-scripta, never the Spanish hybrid) and Lent lily daffodil (Narcissus pseudonarcissus).
  • Specialist peatland nurseries for heather, bilberry, crowberry and cotton grass — UK-native, peat-free growing media.
  • Native pond plant nurseries (no non-native or Schedule 9 species — no parrot's feather, no New Zealand pigmyweed, no floating pennywort).

Our mark-up is a flat 50% on the supplier's bulk price. It covers species verification, provenance documentation, pick-and-pack, UK mainland carriage and aftercare — no hidden fees. Sphagnum moss for peatland restoration is handled separately because it needs a cold chain, careful sphagnum-specific quarantine and is itself bought from NGO-grade suppliers at a higher unit cost — it sits at a 75% mark-up on our ecosystem engineers page.

We do not stock ornamental cultivars, horticultural hybrids, or any species flagged on Schedule 9 of the Wildlife & Countryside Act 1981. If a species you want is not on the list, ask — if it's UK-native and ethically available, we can source it.
